Kala Sangam is delighted to launch AN EXCLUSIVE BOLLYWOOD STILLS EXHIBITION FOR YORKSHIRE! At St Peters House on Friday 18th September at 7pm.

Whilst there are many exciting elements to the Bollywood film industry that have been recently highlighted in the international media, the publicity and marketing factor known in the Bollywood film industry as 'Action Stills' has been overlooked. Historically, these are photograph stills that have been used by the large billboard painters to select particular scenes with stars that will grace hand-painted billboards in India and also for posters, press and magazine advertising.

The exhibition will pay homage to this neglected area of Indian film publicity whilst also offering an insight into the many and varied images that this form of media production has given rise to. This exhibition consists of 40 photographic images on Perspex panels of images with curatorial text written by Dr Rajinder Dudrah, providing both contemporary popular focus as well as historical documentation to the project and its importance to the growing Bollywood scene in the U.K. and internationally.

Private viewing will take place on Friday 18th from 7pm and then open to general viewing from Saturday 19th September and will run until January 2010.
