Over the last three months Kala Sangam has hosted a colourful programme of free events, spanning the themes of music, dance, architecture, film, literature, fashion, food and faith. The series has been titled Kala Milan, the Sanskrit words for ‘art’ and ‘coming together’.

On Friday 19th March, St Peter's House hosted an evening of music and dance, starring two people for whom this concept holds a very special meaning. Audiences witnessed a marriage of rhythm and dance and observed how Tabla player Sanju Sahai and Kathak dancer Jaymini Sahai come interacted through rhythmic syllables.

This was a fantastic climax to a diverse project including celebratory poetry workshops by Asian poet Debjani Chatterjee, energetic Bhangra classes with Vijay Mehay, a thought-provoking faith forum with Bradford Cathedral, delicious food demonstrations by Hansa's Restaurant and the unveiling of Pakistan’s first English language film in 30 years, to mention just a few!

Kala Sangam is always striving to improve. If you were a participant during any of Kala Milan events, please send us your feedback to info@kalasangam.org. We would love to hear what you thought.

Kala Sangam would like to thank The Learning Revolution Transformation Fund who helped make Kala Milan possible.
