We will celebrate the closing of the Kala Milan project with a very special event led by Sanju Suhai, a tabla musician of rare distinction, together with Jaymini Chauhan, a dancer of exquisite elegance on Friday 19th March 6:30pm-9pm at Kala Sangam, St Peter’s House, Bradford.

Sanju is a sixth-generation tabla player of the Benares Gharana. Jaymini Chauhan started her Kathak training in the UK in 1983 and has trained with Guru Pratap Pawar Ji.

They will be accompanied by Kamaljeet Ajimal, a young Santoor player from Leeds. She began learning from Shri Dharambir Singh and is now a disciple of Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma.

Together they will create a participatory event where sound and dance come together in a riveting performance. Don’t miss this unique visual and musical finale.

Refreshments will be served.

If you like the look of this event, also check out Devika Rao.

This series of events is part of Kala Milan, a new programme of talks, workshops, films and concerts hosted by Kala Sangam during February and March 2010. Kala Milan is Learning Revolution Transformation Fund project. There is sure to be something for everybody with our new workshops, demonstrations and performances. All the events are free and open for people of all ages, abilities, races, ethnicity and religious backgrounds and genders.

Places can be booked by emailing info@kalasangam.org or by calling (01274) 303340.
