In October, Kala Sangam dance student Parvathi Kanakath had a taste of what it is like to work at an arts organisation.

Having been a dance student and performer at Kala Sangam for a number of years, Parvathi has developed a keen interest in the arts. She wanted to see first hand what it is like to work behind the scenes at an arts organisation, so she spent a week working in the busy Bradford office of Kala Sangam at St Peter's House on Forster Square, and out and about on site with the arts projects team.

Parvathi's week at Kala Sangam was part of the many opportunities that the South Asian and collaborative arts organisation offers in and around Yorkshire, as part of their committment to giving young people valuable opportunities to experience, appreciate and learn about the arts in a friendly, hands-on environment.

Parvathi spent time working with Pavan and Imran on the Arts Projects team at Kala Sangam, as well as helping out with a number of marketing activities for Helen, programming activities for Ajit and administrative activities for Fiona.

As part of her work experience, Parvathi wrote a blog about her week at Kala Sangam. The blog was published this week on the newly-launched arts events and resources website by Fabric, the Bradford-based network for local artists and arts organisations.
