Purnima Tanuku, Chair of the Kala Sangam board of trustees, is also the Chief Executive of National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA).

She has been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen's Honour's List. NDNA said that the OBE was an important step in highlighting the valuable services delivered by the sector. Purnima will visit Buckingham Palace in early 2011 to receive the award.Purnima Tanuku, Chief Executive of NDNA says: “I was delighted to discover that I had been named in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List. It is a great honour and it would not have been possible without the fantastic support of NDNA’s Board of Trustees, member volunteers and our hard working and dedicated staff team. Together we are determined to improve the support for nurseries, and enable them to deliver the very best possible care and early learning for children. This OBE will add weight to our work, and we hope that it will help open even more doors so that we can deliver more for members and ensure that their role in improving outcomes is strengthened and recognised even more.”
